The rule

You may have learned that money is vulgar to discuss directly, that wanting more than you have is greedy, and that the safest way to hold either is to pretend indifference, whether you have plenty or barely enough.

Traditionally echoed in Plutus, the Greek god of wealth, blinded by Zeus so that riches would arrive without regard for who supposedly deserved them, and in Ògún, the Yoruba orisha of iron and labour, who cleared the first path through the wilderness so that others could follow.
