You may have learned that creativity is a talent some people have, that play is for children, and that making things needs to justify itself with a result. It might start with ten minutes of making something badly on purpose, and noticing how quickly you want to judge it. Flow is neurologically regenerative. Everyone who's survived the hardest version of anything names a creative practice as central to it, not peripheral.
Traditionally echoed in Puck of English folklore, mischief for its own sake, and in lila, the Hindu idea that creation itself is divine play, made for no reason beyond the joy of making it.
