You may have learned that desire is a drive to be managed, that wanting, especially wanting openly, isn't fully acceptable. It might begin with something as small as ordering exactly what you want, and noticing the old urge to explain. Desire sits at the core of identity. Whatever energy goes into managing it into silence never gets spent on the life that's actually wanted.
Traditionally echoed in Ọ̀ṣun, the Yoruba orisha of love, sweetness and sensuality, whom the other orisha once shut out of their work, only to find that nothing they made would hold until she was let back in.
